Interest begins with an invitation from the Lord to the Dominican life as a vowed religious. The next interest level is meeting and speaking with one of our sisters. This is crucial in order to understand what we are all about: our mission, our prayer life, living in community and serving the people of God.
Our typical day begins with Morning Prayer and Mass. Following the Eucharistic Liturgy, most Sisters are involved in an active education ministry. Our Sisters are teachers /administrators in both elementary and high school. The Sisters are also ministering in music education, seminary preparation, and as a canon lawyer. Other Sisters serve in parish ministry. We treasure our retired sisters who assist us in vital community tasks. Our infirmed sisters also assist us with their prayers and love.
In late afternoon, we gather together to pray the Rosary and Vespers . We hold in special memory our loved ones and those intentions mentioned in prayer requests. Our evening meal is filled with interesting conversation, often centering on a particular topic of Dominican religious life, or our life in ministry.
Following dinner, we just relax, maybe read the paper or watch the news, go for a walk, etc. Compline or Night Prayer celebrates the conclusion of our day with both gratitude and joy.
